JOBS-HOT Education

The JOBS-HOT qualification in Clinical Sport & Remedial Massage has evolved over 20 years to best meet the needs of the client and it has become the benchmark for quality training in the UK. It has been developed by working therapists who really understand what it takes to provide good Remedial massage therapy and build a successful practice. Find more info on tantric massage website here.

Almost all massage therapists are self-employed and work in the private sector of healthcare so our vocational training is centred round this. It enables therapists to safely and effectively treat clients from all walks of life, suffering a variety of musculoskeletal as well as medical conditions. This offers the therapist the greatest potential for success in a career that can be immensely satisfying and enjoyable.

The JOBS-HOT qualification is externally validated by Edexel/BTEC at Level 5 which is the highest available in the UK. It is recognised nationally and in many other countries too.

The qualification operates through a small number of validated schools and JOBS-HOT work very closely with them to ensure that high standards are achieved and improved on. We believe that it is not what you teach, but how you teach it that makes all the difference. So it is very important that our tutors are also working therapists with proven clinical success.

JOBS-HOT Professional Association for Therapists

Full membership of JOBS-HOT is available to therapists with the JOBS-HOT/BTEC qualification or equivalent, and valid insurance to practice. Members are also required to carry out continued professional development CPD.

All students on JOBS-HOT/BTEC courses get free student membership.

JOBS-HOT represents its therapist members and works to protect and support their professional interests. It sits on the Sport and Remedial Therapies Council SRTC. This is recognised by the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council CNHC which is the new government-backed regulatory body for the industry. JOBS-HOT full members are eligible to register with CNHC.

Members can obtain their professional indemnity insurance on the JOBS-HOT Block Policy with Balens Ltd.

What is Sport & Remedial Massage?

The JOBS-HOT qualification centres round “Remedial” massage therapy, which simply means using manual therapy techniques to try to “remedy” a problem. But to offer a remedy you must do more than just relieve pain; you must also be able to understand how the problem came about and how it can be avoided in the future. To achieve this, our training covers a range of massage and advanced soft tissue techniques set within a framework of assessment and rehabilitation procedures. As well as dealing effectively with a variety of musculoskeletal problems this can also be used to help in recovery and reduce the symptoms in many medical conditions too.

We include Sports massage as a specialist area within Remedial massage therapy which applies all the same techniques and principles in a way that best meet the specific needs of the athlete. JOBS-HOT does not recognise “Sports massage” as a single subject without the remedial skills because although this could be enough to take away an athlete’s pain at the time this does not offer them a remedy.

CNHC is the UK regulator for complementary healthcare practitioners.

Its key function is to enhance public protection by setting standards for registration with CNHC. The CNHC quality mark (above) is being recognised as the hallmark of quality for the sector. This means that the general public, and those who commission the services of complementary healthcare practitioners, will be able to choose with confidence by looking for the CNHC quality mark.

The Department of Health in November 2009 stated: "CNHC is the only voluntary regulatory body for complementary healthcare which has official government backing.  No other organisation has the same exacting criteria or focus on safety and quality."

Seeing Hands

The JOBS-HOT is delighted to be involved with Seeing Hands Nepal, which is a charity training blind people in Nepal to give 'western' style massage to tourist/trekkers. Instead of living in extreme poverty, dependent on their family or forced to beg, the first few therapists are now earning money. (And giving a good massage service to tired trekkers too.)
JOBS-HOT is helping in the design and delivery of an effective training programme and training volunteer tutors.

This really is a wonderful project and we hope you will take time to look on their website to find out more. [click here]
